- Increase local job growth through targeted tax credits to small businesses hiring those who are long-term unemployed.
- Improve workforce retraining so unemployed workers can find jobs faster.
- Attract new businesses in innovative, high-growth sectors like biotechnology and information technology.
- Foster greater economic development through strong public-private partnerships.
- Strengthen our schools and universities so that our students will be ready for the jobs of tomorrow.
- Expand access to small business loans and capital for local companies to grow and thrive.
Over the last four years, Clarence has stood up for small businesses by:
- Supporting the creation of a new small business retirement savings program.
- Voting in favor of a law that requires equal pay for equal work.
- Supporting the establishment of a state program that supports employers in hiring apprenticeship programs
- Opposing additional tax credits for big businesses that earn billions in profit each year
- Voting against tax cuts for people buying luxury yachts so the money could be better spent on more worthwhile economic development and job creation efforts
